FA Cup Shock

Chelsea v Bradford

Once again the FA Cup has not failed to disappoint, with two games in particular catching the attention of many football fans eyes.

Starting off with the biggest shock of the afternoon, Bradford City. Currently sitting 49 places below Jose Mourinho’s resilient Chelsea side, produced an incredible comeback from 2-0 down to beat the premier league high flyers 4-2.

Prior to the game Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had said it “would be a disgrace” if they lost the game and, despite making nine changes to his starting line-up, still fielded a strong side.

Fielding the likes of Chelsea talisman Didier Drogba alongside with the Brazilian magician Oscar, the Blue’s still failed to capitalise on their missed opportunities.

Mourinho feeling the Bantams pressure on 70 minutes decided to introduce the cavalry. With the likes of Fabregas, Willian and Hazard all coming off the bench. Still however, it was not enough the stop the Bantams cruising into round five.

With the pressure mounting on bewildered Chelsea side, the 6,000 travelling fans pushed their side over the line with a penultimate Yeates goal on (90’+4) minutes, sending a well deserved Bradford side into the next round.

Manchester City v Middlesbrough

Manchester City and Manuel Pellegrini have received another shock to system after City are beaten 2-0 once again, the second time in a week.

It was on-loan Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford who broke the deadlock on (53′) minutes. Oh the irony? Which was further cancelled out by Garicia Martinez’s goal on (90’+3) to steal it for the North East side.

Middlesbrough boasting the Championships best defensive record proved too much for a strong City side, with the likes of Aguero and Silva within the starting line ups. Boro’s defence needed to be resolute within the first half and face relentless City attacks, before creating a host of chances in the second half.

All in all, another disappointing result for manager Manuel Pellegrini whose team now bow out of the FA Cup, whilst still trail to Chelsea by five points in the race for this years Premier League title.

However, Boro fans will be over the moon with their impressive FA Cup run, whilst also remaining in one of the two Championship automatic promotion places.

Wengers luck?

Arsene Wenger will also be rubbing his hands together with joy after three of the big FA Cup contenders are now out (Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham).

Wengers hopes of retaining last years trophy could well be well in contention, could it be the year of the Wenger once more?
